I'm sure you're wondering why I named my blog "Sale el Sol (en Sevilla)" or more importantly what it even means in English.
"Sale el Sol" translates to mean "the sun rises." Also, "Sale el Sol" is the name of a new song by Shakira, so my blog title "The Sun Rises (in Seville)" carries double meaning to me. First, and most obviously the sun actually does rise in Seville, I know, believe it or not. Sevilla, being located in the southern part of Spain, has a very warm climate full of sunshine especially in the spring/summer months. Second, the lyrics to the song "Sale el Sol" are very relatable for me and this adventure I'm about to begin. The chorus of the song has a couple lines that say:
Y un día después de la tormenta
Cuando menos piensas sale el sol
Which means, "And a day after the storm/ When you least expect it, the sun rises." To me this just shows that every day is a new day and a new beginning for everyone, in the same way that going to Spain will be a new beginning for me. Especially after a stressful fall semester, I really feel like Spain is going to be my sun rise after the storm and I cannot wait!
There's one more line from the song that really sealed the deal for me with making it my blog title. The verse says:
Y lo mejor siempre espera adelante
It translates to mean, "And the best things always lie ahead." I don't think this could be any truer. I'm looking forward to the new lessons, adventures, and memories I will make this coming semester and I hope that I will be able to share all of those experiences with you via this blog! Take care, everyone… 2 more days til departure!!
Besos,
Caitlin xx
